In a recent survey of nonprofit data, only 17% of nonprofit board members are represented by black people while they represent 23.5% of the population.
The Black Boardroom Leadership Institute (BBLI) is designed to address the diversity gap amongst Orlando’s nonprofit board of directors and foster an atmosphere where minority leaders have a voice at the table, not just a seat on the roster.
BBLI consists of two, six-month programs,
1) the Nonprofit track, for organizations interested in creating an inclusive environment on their board of directors, and
2) the Leadership track, for Black leaders looking to serve authentically as a board member.
We are currently recruiting individuals interested in participating in the 2024 Nonprofit track.
The program goal of the Nonprofit track is to train nonprofit leaders in diversifying board member recruitment and guiding culture change to create inclusive environments of diverse voices in service to nonprofit boards. Over six months, participants will gain foundational knowledge in board governance, discover motivators and cultural qualities to develop an authentic leadership style, and use those discoveries to lead with impact on local nonprofit boards.
