Two measures addressing the ever-growing problem of homelessness in our region and throughout Florida, which has the third highest number of homeless persons in America, are progressing in the early days of the 2016 legislative session. Last week, SB 1534, sponsored by Sen. David Simmons (R-Altamonte Springs) and HB 1235, sponsored by Representatives Mike Miller (R-Orlando), Jason Brodeur (R-Sanford) and Mike LaRosa (R-Kissimmee), each received a unanimous vote of approval in the Senate Committee on Community Affairs and the House Children, Families and Seniors Subcommittee respectively.
