Advancing Inclusion on Nonprofit Boards and Growing Orlando’s Talent Pipeline
The Black Boardroom Leadership Institute (BBLI), award-winner of the 2023 Excellence in Innovation Award from the Association of Leadership Programs and award-winner of the Florida Economic Development Council Innovation in Marketing Pivot & Persist 2023 Award, is designed to ensure that Orlando’s nonprofit leadership reflects the diversity of our community, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where minority leaders have a voice at the table, not just a seat on the roster.
BBLI is made possible thanks to contributions from the Wells Fargo Foundation, Central Florida Foundation and Helios Education Foundation.
Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2024 BBLI Leadership Track. If you would like to learn more about a future track, click the button below and complete the form.

What is BBLI?
IN A RECENT SURVEY OF NONPROFIT DATA, 17% OF MEMBERS SERVING ON CENTRAL FLORIDA NONPROFIT BOARDS ARE REPRESENTED BY BLACK LEADERS IN COMPARISON TO 68% OF THE MEMBERS BEING NON-HISPANIC WHITE.
The Institute is a one-of-a-kind leadership training program that brings together both nonprofit organizations and leaders with a goal to guide culture change and create an ideal environment of inclusion of diverse voices in service to boards.
About the Program
The Black Boardroom Leadership Institute consists of two, six-month programs:
1) the nonprofit track, for nonprofit organizations interested in creating an inclusive environment on their boards, and
2) the leadership track for individual Black leaders who desire to serve authentically on a local board.
The nonprofit track assesses and trains organizations in prioritizing diversity and inclusiveness in board member recruitment strategies, and guides culture change to create an ideal environment of inclusion of diverse voices.
The leadership track offers curriculum and board training that positions leaders for success on a local nonprofit board of directors, creating a pipeline of leaders for organizations to identify and align skillsets with open board seats.
